I'm writing to wish you good luck in the election and to give you a piece of advice:Invest in a Kevlar suit (or other bullet proof attire)! Now, don't get me wrong. I mean you no harm and I think a majority of people like and/or respect you. But I and thousands of others are afraid for you. An article written on Oct. 19 in the Los Angeles time talks about African-Americans being afraid that you won't be elected and if you are, they fear for your life. I and many other whites are also afraid. There are videos that have bigoted white folks calling for you to be shot. And unfortunately, there are some that would do the shooting.
Look at the deaths of John and Robert Kennedy and, of course, at the death of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. All of them were standing for equal rights. Secret Service Agents were not able to protect the Kennedy's and I'm sure Rev. King had his own security.
Therefore, I say again: Buy a Kevlar suit or some other bulletproof attire complete with helmet! Don't go anywhere without it! When you were in Nashville, TN, my husband and I were asking if you had a lead lined suit on and we were only half-way joking.
I hope and pray that you do get elected AND that you stay safe, but just in case ....
Sincerely,
Jewel
