Owensboro Writers Group
I started Owensboro Writers Group in 2008 with a few of my friends in Owensboro, KY. But, it didn't start growing until January 2010 when I moved the meetings to Shoney's Restaurant on a Saturday. Now, we have 16 members that share writing advice, critiques, comments, writing related links, articles and more.
During our Jan. 15, 2011 meeting, we decided to move the next meeting to Daviess County Public Library at the corner of Frederica St. and 20th St. That meeting will take place on Feb. 19 at 11 AM in the meeting room on the second floor.
To learn more about this writing group including shared work, assignments and future meetings, visit Owensboro Writers Group . Please check on it often to keep up to date.
Beginning Jan. 28, 2012, Owensboro Writers Group will be using Yahoo Groups for messages, uploading files, and sending out email (list-serve). Check it out below:

Quotes from Writers
When something is bothering me, I write a song that tells my feelings.
Loretta Lynn
Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers.
Isaac Asimov
To be a novelist, all I need is a pen and a piece of paper.
Quentin Tarantino
I've got a vendetta to destroy the Net, to make everyone go to the library. I love the organic thing of pen and paper, ink on canvas. I love going down to the library, the feel and smell of books.
Joseph Fiennes
Substitute "damn" every time you're inclined to write "very"; your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be.
Mark Twain
Reduce your plan to writing. The moment you complete this, you will have definitely given concrete form to the intangible desire.
Napoleon Hill
It's called a pen. It's like a printer, hooked straight to my brain.
Dale Dauten
Remember always that the composer's pen is still mightier than the bow of the violinist; in you lie all the possibilities of the creation of beauty.
John Philip Sousa
The pen is a formidable weapon, but a man can kill himself with it a great deal more easily than he can other people.
George Dennison Prentice
You want to be a writer, don't know how or when? Find a quiet place, use a humble pen.
Paul Simon
I always start writing with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind.
Patrick Dennis
Ideas? My head is full of them, one after the other, but they serve no purpose there. They must be put down on paper, one after the other.
Camilo Jose Cela
Ideas are elusive, slippery things. Best to keep a pad of paper and a pencil at your bedside, so you can stab them during the night before they get away.
Earl Nightingale
The worst thing you can do is censor yourself as the pencil hits the paper. You must not edit until you get it all on paper. If you can put everything down, stream-of-consciousness, you'll do yourself a service.
Stephen Sondheim
When you write down your ideas you automatically focus your full attention on them. Few if any of us can write one thought and think another at the same time. Thus a pencil and paper make excellent concentration tools.
Michael LeBoeuf
I have only got down on to paper, really, three types of people: the person I think I am, the people who irritate me, and the people I'd like to be.
E. M. Forster
If you are a genius, you'll make your own rules, but if not - and the odds are against it - go to your desk no matter what your mood, face the icy challenge of the paper - write.
J. B. Priestley
